Vacuuming With a Robot Hoover is the Best Hands-Off Model We've Tested
This premium Eufy bot is the top hands off model we have test so far. It vacuums, mops and self-empties and dry mop pads without your intervention.
It doesn't feature advanced cleaning options or a bigger docking system, but it delivers amazing performance for less than half the cost of the most expensive robotic vacuums. It also features a compact design that can reach under furniture.

Vacuuming
A robot vacuum is a simple and quick way to keep your floors clean. A majority of the robots featured that we have selected are built to function without your intervention You can set them to run when you're away or initiate cleaning sessions using your smartphone. But, you should choose a model that has superior navigation and obstacle detection to ensure it will not get stuck on the stairs or beneath furniture.
It's important to select the best robot vacuum that is able to effectively and efficiently clean all types of flooring. Choose a model with a large dust bin that will hold a large amount of dirt between emptying, and a nozzle which does not lose suction as it rotates.
Most robots require minimal to any maintenance, other than cleaning the tangled fur off the rotating brush after every cleaning session (and wiping its camera or sensors as needed) and then periodically emptying the bin, or using the robot's self-emptying base. If you follow these easy maintenance steps, your robot vacuum will last as long as full-size vacuums and will keep your home clean for longer.
Robotic mops aren't as versatile than vacuums, but they can also remove spills and puddles. The iLife V3s Pro is an example of such a device, which is a solid option for those with hardwood floors or a mix of rugs and carpets. It is quiet and has excellent navigation capabilities, which helped it avoid obstacles during testing. The charging dock can also function as a trash bin.
Choose a robot vacuum cleaner that has the ability to mop at the same time. Karcher's RCV 5 is able to do this, and it also comes with other features that are beneficial including a live camera, which broadcasts a grainy picture to your app, so that you can monitor your pet or kids as well as remote controls that are easily programable. Its navigation may not be as efficient as some of the other models in this collection but its 500ml trash bin is spacious and doesn't need frequent emptying.
Mopping
Robots that mop and vacuum are relatively new to the market. They're more expensive than standalone robots and require an additional water tank, but the extra expense may be worth it for a lot of people, especially those with difficult-to-clean stains, or pets with a lot of.
Some of the best robots can clean carpets and floors as well as vacuuming. Several brands now offer all-in-one machines that can do both tasks extremely well. The Combo J9+, for example, is among the best mopping robots we've tested. It has an impressively large dock that can hold up to 60 days worth of debris. That's a big improvement on the Qrevo Pro, which ran out of water after mopping just 30 days worth of dirt in our tests.
The Tapo RV30 Plus from networking giant TP Link is a great two-in-one. It's small and quiet, with an attractive, clutter-free appearance. In top robot vacuum cleans the floors quickly and thoroughly - it was particularly effective in cleaning rugs, but it took several runs to clean certain areas of soiled wooden. Its LIDAR navigation works well, too. It avoids bumping into furniture and running over power cables.
It's a bit sluggish on the stairs, but that's to be expected from a small robot that's designed to work around obstacles. The only downside is that its mopping pads are difficult to attach and didn't stay put during our tests, and it isn't equipped to deal with dried-on dirt and makes it more of a vacuum cleaner than a full-fledged robot mop.
Despite these shortcomings, it's still a solid option for those looking for a hands-off cleaning experience. It can handle carpets with equal ease. It has decent suction, which has helped to pick up fine dust and pet hair from carpets. Automatic carpet recognition is a fantastic feature since it boosts the vacuuming power to better tackle embedded dirt. It is simple to use and the charging dock automatically empty the dustbin when it is full. This is an excellent feature for apartment dwellers.
Cleaning Apps
Nearly every robot vacuum mop, sweeper, and vacuum comes with an application that lets you modify cleaning routines, choose rooms to clean, schedule cleaning sessions, and change settings such as suction, water level and scrubbing power. Certain robots have intelligent dirt detection that utilizes maps and previous cleaning data to identify dirty areas.
You can also utilize an app to design virtual barriers and no-go zones to shield your robot away from dangerous objects, such as cords and pet water bowls. Some models allow you to create these virtual barriers with laser navigation sensors, while others feature small physical boundaries or barriers that to place wherever you'd like to keep off your floor area.
The most effective robot vacuums and mops are intelligent enough to detect obstacles and navigate around them, but there are still some hazards to watch out for. For instance, a robot's main brush could get stuck on long cords or curtains and stop the machine from moving. To prevent this, you can clear the area of cords and tie up any long curtains.
Certain robots automatically update their software which controls navigation and obstacle avoidance algorithm. This improves performance and reduces the wear and tear on the robot's internal parts. It's recommended to check the firmware periodically to check the manufacturer's site or your robot's application for updates to the firmware.
If you own a large home, look for a model with multiple cleaning modes. The iRobot Roomba 11S Max can mop and vacuum on hard and carpeted floors using different suction settings. It can also automatically switch to the highest power setting for carpets and increase its scrubbing capabilities with SmartScrub.
If you're looking to remain hands-free, a robot that has the ability to speak to a voice-activated assistant is a great option. The iRobot Roomba 980, for example, can be operated with a simple command from Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant. It comes with a compact self-emptying docking station, as well as a powerful cleaning engine that leaves your floors sparkling.
